February 27, 2010 - SECTIONAL FINAL Delaware 46 Marion-Franklin 50
Potter 2 points. Caudill 6 points. Bingaya 18 points. Coleman 14 points. Bosiokovic 6 points. The Delaware Hayes Pacers may have played their finest game of the season tonight. However, it proved to not be enough as they fell to eighth-seeded Marion Franklin by a score of 50-46. The Pacers matched their opponent's physicality and played quite well all night long against a much bigger and more athletic Marion-Franklin team. They out-rebounded the Red Devils 28-26 and shot 57% from the floor (19-33). However, the Pacers failed to capitalize on two one and one opportunities in the final 36.4 seconds of the game. The Pacers went to the foul line down 2 points with 10.9 seconds left and missed the front end of a one and one. After a Marion Franklin rebound and a Delaware foul, the Pacers got the ball back with 8.2 seconds left down 2 points. The Pacers hopes of an upset were crushed however as Marion-Franklin's Jeremi McCoy made a key steal, was fouled and converted both free throws with 6.8 seconds left to account for the final margin of 50-46. The standouts tonight for the Pacers were Matty Bingaya and Braxton Coleman. For the game, Bingaya had 18 points on 7-9 shooting, 7 assists and 5 rebounds. Coleman chipped in 14 points on 7-9 shooting, and added 10 rebounds. Coleman also helped hold Marion Franklin's 6'9'' center Elijah Macon to 11 points and 4 rebounds. Macon has verbally committed to West Virginia. The Pacers finished the year at 12-10. The Pacers are expected to have 7 returning letterwinners back next season with the only player departing being Senior Captain Nick Caudill.
February 24, 2010 - SECTIONAL TOURNAMENT Delaware 30 St. Charles 26
Potter 1 point. Caudill 8 points. Bingaya 14 points. Coleman 2 points. Bosiokovic 2 points. Parsons 3 points. The Delaware Hayes Pacers defeated St. Charles tonight by a score of 30-26. Matty Bingaya led the way for the Pacers with 14 points and 8 rebounds and Nick Caudill chipped in 8 points, including the two free throws that sealed the game with seven seconds left. On the final play of the game Keith Butts intercepted a cross court pass to assure the Pacers a first round tournament victory.
Tonight's victory was the 12th win for the Pacers, which ties for the most wins that the Delaware Boys Basketball Program has had dating back to the 2003-2004 season. The Pacers travel to Hilliard Bradley on Saturday for a sectional final game against 8th seeded Marion-Franklin.
